Father's day mayhem

In less than a month my Father will be leaving for Australia. I have been helping him out with the things he needs to bring there. One of the major stuff are the techie gadgets. He wanted helped in canvasing what he would buy. I did not get to help with his cell phone because he just bought a new one out of the blue. He bought a Nokia 5800. He was very proud and would not even let me or my sister tinker with it. I did help with his laptop buying. I already have a friend who I contact if I need to buy a laptop. It took awhile for him to decided whether he will buy a laptop or not. Finally my father decided to buy one.

Now my problem is teaching my father how to use it. So last Sunday we celebrated Father's day at K1 spa. We did not avail the spa services instead we went there for the wifi. After eating dinner wet there lugging two laptops, my sister's and my Father's. It was a Sunday so there were no customers. We took out the laptops ang order Nachos and drinks. Then I started my tutorial...
Internet 101, Connecting the laptop throught Wifi, How to Chat through YM and skype.

At least we were somehow reserved...well compared when I was teaching him at home we were shouting at each other...don't do this, click that, double click, right click.....After the session I was drained. I didn't even get to peek my facebook because the time we stayed at K1 I was the teaching my Father a lot of stuff. My sister assisted when we taught him how to chat. We tested his built in web cam. My Mom was the only one not tinkering with any gadget. Around 9:30 we headed home.

That was only part one of the tutorials...sigh

Random-randomness

There are a lot realizations I have lately....

first ...I realized that the main reason I have not been blogging anything lately because I spend too much time with facebook (damn you Mafiawars).

second... I suck at making faces or doing wacky shots.

The picture is cropped so you can only see my hand...

third...there is life after sex scandal.

fourth...I have been in rut lately when it comes to doing creative stuff.

My workload lately involves fine tuning the approve materials so its just no brainer tasks. I have not put my brain to good use. It not just with work even with my personal stuff. I have not draw, paint, sketch, took a photo for the past few months. I feel that my creativity seems to be dead (no wonder I make crappy wacky shots....) But I know I must not cultivate this creative rut.

Somehow my boss challenges us to make better campaigns...so my almost dread brain will no be force to restart all engines. sigh.

What happened when my blog lay dormant

It's been awhile since I last wrote a blog entry. I checked and I have two drafts. I am not going to continue those blog entries because it is already outdated.

I plurked the other day about not blogging anything. One plurker replied that maybe nothing is happening in my life. That is quite the opposite. There are lot of stuff going on and I have just no time to blog about it.

It has been a whirlwind for me with my workload, going to Cebu with my sister and a scandal (that has rocked not only my but the whole country).

One of my drafts is titled wildfire. It was about a relative being involved in the recent scandal. I am really sad for her and do wish she is doing ok despite everything. All I can say we all do foolish things for love at one point of our lives. I hope people will not judge her for what they saw. . . (what happened really made me sad and worry but I can't really do anything about it since its a long time since I had contact with her). I will always pray that you have the strength to face everything.

Enough about the scandal thing... I had just went to Cebu with my sister. It was suppose to be the last outing of my sister with her barkada before starting their review but unforseen circumstances I went with my sister to serve as a chaperone. I have a blast. It was a break from weeks of heavy workload and my IELTS exam. We met with long lost cousins, went mall hopping, tried the sky walk and the edge coaster and hang out with an Aunt her family. It was fun outing with out the parentals.

Last Saturday I finally got my IELTS results. I have been dreading it. I assumed that I would get 5 for my writing test. I did not get a 5 but a 6 for my writing test. Still not the score I wanted. I am suprised that I got 8 for my speaking ang 8.5 for my listening. I got a 7 for my reading which is already good. I hope I will not take the test again because I got a 6. I do not know if ever I will take the test if I will get the an 8 or an 8.5 mark again.

Being busy with lots of stuff I have not made any personal projects. I did not blog, took a picture or drew in my moleskin. The only thing I continue to do is my 50 book challange. I am right now reading my 23rd book. I have to finish 25 books this month, so I got two books to go and I am already half my 50 mark.

I have been glum lately due to my weight. I feel fat. I must find a diet that suit me. I cannot skip meals or spend more time in the gym. If I eat super less I tend to have headaches or I don't have energy. I used to be a camwhore right now I avoid taking pictures because I am a sight for sore eyes. I should get my act together!

I should find a way to lift my spirits up. Somehow I feel I am in my yearly slump. I must find a way to rejuvenate my creativity and spark inspiration. All this Facebooking made my blog empty. I must wean myself from mafia wars.

I got half year to go till the year is over and I must challenge myself to do more.

Trying to Pick up Pace

I have been busy with lots of things lately that I have not blogged anything in awhile…

Writing formal essays is not as easy as it seems

A month from now I will take the IELTS exams. I cannot really say that I am already confident for the exam. The past weeks of review were a challenge to me. I had to schedule my review right after my work. I never went to my evening classes on time. What the heck. It’s better than no taking the review classes at all. My first mock-exam was a disaster. I got a five for my writing test and 6 for my speaking test. My reading and listening test were okay, I got a 7.5 on both accounts. I expected the worst because it was first try at the exam. There were times in my speaking test that I had nothing to say or I kept repeating things. The writing test on the other hand I was reprimanded for writing in all caps. I write that way because my writing is not that nice. I said to myself I could do better. The succeeding mock exam results were better. I even got a 7.5 for my speaking. My reading and listening test ranges from 6.5-8 (but I need to get a 7). My writing test is on the other hand really needs improvement. I thought I could get good marks with this test because I used to write. Then I realize that writing formal essays is hard. I used to write but it was more of the creative side. I have to organize my thoughts and never forget to recheck what I wrote. Unfortunately I always ran out of time. I really need to practice thinking and writing fast.

Addicted to Reading
When I was in Cebu I had no other forms of entertainment. So I choose reading books. When I got back here in Davao reading books stuck with me. Now I joined a 50 book challenge a year in shelfari. I calculated that I should finish at least 4 books a month and 12-13 books per quarter. This quarter I have finished reading 14 books. I might add not bad.
* The Last Watch- Sergei Lukianenko (1)
* Shanghai Baby- Wei Hui (2)
* The Stranger- Albert Camus (3)
* The Southern Vampire Series- Charlaine Harris
-Dead Until Dark (4)
-Living Dead in Dallas (5)
-Club Dead (6)
-Dead to the World (7)
-Dead as a Doornail (8)
-Definitely Dead (9)
-All Together Dead (10)
-From Dead to Worse (11)

*They Whisper- Robert Olen Butler (12)
*The Cider House Rules-John Irving (13)
*The Devil Wears Prada- Lauren Weisberger (14)
Right now I am reading The Time Traveller’s Wife and Psycho the book about Ed Gein.

What happened to my Creativity List!
The other year I made a plan to make a creativity list. This is a list of things I have to do each month to fuel my creativity. It involves reading books, watching movies, making sketches, having a photo shoot and writing something like a poem, story or whatever. I did manage to do it the first month but then I couldn’t manage to do it the following months. I don’t know if its lack of time or if it lack discipline. I did manage to do some of the things in the list but not everything.

Preparing for Summer
It’s already summer and it’s time to have sometime on the beach. My high school friends and I really want to go on an outing but have not found the perfect place to. Right now I cannot go to any outing to the beach because I am still recuperating from my cyst operation. But when all is healed and well you bet I want to haul my ass to any beach. Summer outing also means lomo time for me. Lomo cams work better with lots of sunshine so going to the beach would be a wonderful opportunity to take pictures. I got lots of films collecting dust in my shelves and not the time to use them.

Trying to be an Adult
My father will be leaving to Australia soon. Since I am the oldest I am the one take responsibility of taking care of my family. I am not the breadwinner but I will manage stuff for my father. I have tried living on my own so I am not really new to taking responsibilities for one’s own shit but still I do ponder if I got what it takes… I knew I have to manage my time. The first months will definitely challenging but will an optimist heart everything should be ok. Hopefully I would still have time to blog by then.
