The Shinning

I'm a Stephen King fan. Since high school I tried reading all of his novels and his movies. I have read The shinning even watched the mini TV series remake. I haven't watched the Stanley Kubrick version. I am a horror fanatic. I do try to watch the latest horror flicks but I also try the classics. The shinning is one of the movies I want to watch.

This film had mixed views. Even Stephen King had apprehensions with this version (he even produced a mini tv series remake later). I am not a film critic I'm more of a horror film lover so I will not dwell on how the critics received the film. The movie did deviate from the novel. Still this version has spot in my heart. Others might not like the slow pacing but for me I liked. I guess I like my horror slow. I love the vast eerie empty interiors of the Outlook view hotel. If I were a little child I would definitely loved exploring this hotel.

A horror movie would not be complete without the carnage.

This scene is just sublime. Dexter would love this then again maybe (definitely it would remind him of his Mom).

I don't recommend this to everyone. Some could fall asleep in this movie. The scary moments aren't enough. But I love Jack Nicholson's portrayal of Jack Torrence. Thought it is not faithful to the book but he is one scary Dad.

My Makeshift Home Entertainment system

The TV in my room is busted. At first watching cable wasn't possible. The only thing you can do is watch DVDs. Now you can't do anything with it well except staring at your own reflection. I bought a portable dvd player when I was in Cebu. I remembered that I could rig the cable with it. So there you go I can finally watch cable table. I even attached the old computer speakers to boost the sound. hehehe

New Hair Cut

My old boring hair

I am bored with my lifeless hair. I really don't have a cut in mind. Something short just to cut off the remnants of post break up dyed brown hair last year. My sister and I was waiting for my bf to arrive. My sister told me about the Korean saloon just across the street. I knew we had a lot time so I gave it a try. I just picked out a cut short hair from the catalog.

My new hair....

I want You

It's been quite a while since the last time I went home early and had the library and computer area by myself. I miss those times when I had lots of idle time, lots of things to ponder and plenty of angst to fuel my writing. I was living a very complicated life then. I was very rebellious and angry. I wrote poetry like this

It was never meant to beHe was the forbidden fruit of my wretched garden of
sinHe thought that he could have meI was the one who corrupted his mind.

temptation of a prince -02-27-2005

I saw the person who inspired this poem. It reminded me of the days when I was still emotional, impulsive and very experimental. It was a very dark phase for me but somehow I learned a lot from it. It's been four years since dark dark year and a lot has changed. Right now my blog entries are boring and less meladramatic. Now I see things differently but in a better light. That Prince I mentioned in my poem has also matured. Still he is the silly guy I like hanging out with. We both chose different paths but somehow crossed paths again because of a sad circumstance. I hope he has found peace as I have found mine.

Sigh this so I unlike me soooo EMO. hehehe

PS. I didn't know what titled I would give this entry so I just shuffled my ipod and named the blog after the song on my Ipod.

My Current Vice

My original title was My current Vice-online shopping then I wanted to change it to my current vice-book buying still I feel that is not it. So that the title would be just My current vice. In this article I want to talk about my (ummm do I sound like I'm talking to a shrink?) impulsive buying lately. Early this month I bought a box set of Charlaine Harris' The Southern Vampire series. Right after watching the whole season of True Blood I wanted to read the book series. I knew I could not find the series at local National bookstore I opted to buy the books online instead. I ordered for the books and hoped for the best. While waiting confirmation of my order I saw that there was a boxed at National. If I purchased it there it would be cheaper because there won't be any shipping cost. I didn't but it immediately. I thought about it buying it later but when I asked the saleslady if they had other stocks she replied that it was the last stock. My online order didn't confirm and it was already two days so I decided it was best to buy it. My money was P100 short so I had to withdraw from atm.

Then a few weeks later I saw that avalon.ph was having an anniversary sale. The book auctions started at P10. So I placed bids and won a couple of books (I won six books to be exact). I also found The Ultimate Hitchiker's Guide book was on sale. So without batting an eyelash I bought a book. Saturday and Sunday I finally got my package.
Among my purchases I really love this one.
My story doesn't end here. I also bought another two books still from avalon.ph auctions. I'm going to get the books by next week...and I also bought a new pair of shoes...

Sigh Why was online shopping invented now I'm a click away to unleash my impulsive shopping antics....
